Nameri access often depends on local forest procedures, river conditions, and guide support rather than a single national booking portal.
Road access is reasonable, but river-based activity, uneven terrain, and seasonal flooding limit barrier-free movement.
Nameri National Park lies along the Kameng River at the meeting point of Assam's foothills and Arunachal's mountains. Its combination of river scenery, semi-evergreen forest, grassland patches, and exceptional birdlife makes it one of northeast India's most rewarding parks for travelers interested in both wildlife and quieter nature experiences.
| Season | Morning Safari | Evening Safari |
|---|---|---|
| Winter (Nov - Feb) | Early river and forest entry | Return before dusk |
| Spring (Mar - Apr) | Birding-focused mornings | Late-afternoon river and forest visits |
Walking, rafting, and local forest-guided experiences matter more here than classic jeep-safari tourism.

Semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forest, riverine grassland, cane brakes, and riverbank woodland.
Nameri supports big mammals, river-linked ecology, and some of northeast India's most rewarding birdlife in a forested foothill landscape.
Nameri was notified in 1998, strengthening protection for the Kameng river corridor and an Eastern Himalayan foothill ecosystem long valued for biodiversity and river-based forest access.
