Rajaji National Park protects a large stretch of Shivalik foothill forest across Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal. Created by combining the Rajaji, Motichur, and Chilla sanctuaries, it is now also a tiger reserve and an important elephant corridor linking Himalayan foothills with the Terai Arc landscape.

Sal-dominated moist and dry deciduous forest, riverine vegetation, grassland patches, scrub, and foothill woodland.
Rajaji supports elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, wild boar, langurs, reptiles, and rich birdlife in a foothill corridor landscape.
The park was created in 1983 by merging Rajaji, Motichur, and Chilla protected areas, and it was later brought under Project Tiger as Rajaji Tiger Reserve in 2015.
