There is no single mainstream booking portal for Valmiki; confirm current tiger-reserve tourism and local permit procedures before travel.
Long travel times and light tourism infrastructure reduce accessibility, though the main approach is easier than at many mountain parks.
Valmiki National Park occupies Bihar's forested northwestern corner where the plains rise toward the Himalayan foothills and the Gandak river system shapes a rich Terai landscape. It is the core of Valmiki Tiger Reserve and combines grassland, sal forest, riverbanks, and community-linked forest edges in one of eastern India's most unusual park settings.
| Season | Morning Safari | Evening Safari |
|---|---|---|
| Winter (Nov - Feb) | Morning forest entry as notified | Afternoon visits where permitted |
| Summer (Mar - May) | Early entry preferred | Late-day forest drives |
Current tourism arrangements should be verified locally because facilities remain lighter than at major central Indian parks.
| Category | Amount |

Check local park-entry guidance and current tiger-reserve tourism rules before travel.

Patna is the broad gateway; Gorakhpur is also used depending on route planning.
Bagaha and nearby rail links in West Champaran serve as practical access points.
Approach is via West Champaran toward Valmiki Nagar on Bihar's northwestern frontier.
Use hired vehicles or locally arranged transport because last-mile public options are limited.
Sal forest, riverine vegetation, grassland patches, moist deciduous woodland, and Terai scrub.
Valmiki supports large mammals, birds, reptiles, and wet-season-rich biodiversity in Bihar's only national park and tiger reserve.
Valmiki's protected landscape gained national park status in 1990 and remains central to conservation in Bihar's Himalayan foothill belt.
